Zettaset Data Platform

Overview

Zettaset provides a Hadoop-based data platform for storing and analyzing large data sets. Our platform works with any Apache Hadoop-based distribution, including CDH and BigInsights, and focuses on four key areas:

• Management - elegant, intuitive, yet powerful administration of your Hadoop cluster
• Automation - automated monitoring, reporting, failover, and performance tuning
• Analytics - our web UI puts all the power of Hadoop analytics in your browser
• Security - ensure your cluster and analytics have flexible, strongly enforced safety policies

Management

Zettaset provides custom tools for managing Hadoop. Our clean administrative interface empowers you with the capability of monitoring your clusters’ health at a glance, with reports generated every few seconds from our cluster automation software. Administrators can easily start services, stop services, backup data for any service, change fail-over configurations, and perform many other administrative actions all from a browser window. We also present performance data generated by our management services, allowing administrators to perform capacity planning and server provisioning with a clear understanding of the issues and bottlenecks in their cluster environment. Our technology makes governing Hadoop a seamless and simple process, removing the headache of creating in-house tools and the costly hassle of training Hadoop experts.

Automation

The driving vision of Zettaset is to make Big Data easy and accessible. Our platform heavily emphasizes the automation of difficult, cumbersome tasks that are - up until now - subject to fragile manual processes. For example, all critical services used by and depended upon by a Hadoop cluster, from NameNode to Kerberos, are highly available and have automated fail-over. No manual intervention is required. We automatically replicate and backup critical service data such that no loss occurs in a fail-over scenario. Continuous service monitoring, a critical function of our automation infrastructure, ensures that these services run persistently and healthily. In addition to monitoring the services themselves, we also monitor the server health, reporting any DRAM errors, hard drive failures, or other critical issues encountered. Consecutive health check failures result in fail-over, and any warnings immediately propagate to the administrative display console so that the proper corrective action can be taken. Furthermore, we collect performance data for both services and machines, and allow administrators to view and analyze this performance data. With Zettaset's tools, cluster administrators can determine what systems and services are bottlenecks, IT can streamline its capacity planning process, and your business can optimize its resource usage in expanding its Big Data operations.

Analytics

Hadoop's complexity and arduous usage model offsets its ability to analyze enormous amounts of data, making stock Hadoop a somewhat mediocre solution for big data analysis. With Zettaset's web-based UI, running Hadoop analytics is a snap! Our File Management interface allows you to browse, download, and upload your Hadoop data files using your browser. Our MapReduce interface easily enables the uploading of jars, scripts, and libraries, and creates reusable, configurable jobs that can be referenced for repeated execution. There's no tedious parameter specification, because the interface presents the required and commonly used values to you, along with their default values. Hive queries immensely simplify through the same reusable job specification interface and users can even run hive queries directly on the cluster through our web-based terminal.

Security

All operations through Zettaset's interface are authenticated and segmented through Kerberos, for which we have implemented full support and fail-over capabilities. Users and groups are added and modified through the web interface and functionality can be restricted for various individuals and groups, keeping your data safe and secure.
