Today we’re happy to announce that we’ve joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation as a Silver member. Additionally, we’ve just released a Cloud Foundry-specific encrypted archive product, XCrypt Archive. Previously available as a generic encrypted backup solution, XCrypt Archive is now available for open source Cloud Foundry BOSH as well as Pivotal Cloud Foundry BOSH.

Joining the Cloud Foundry Foundation

As Zettaset is an encryption vendor focused on cloud native, virtual, and hyperconverged technologies, the Cloud Foundry Foundation was a natural fit for us. The Cloud Foundry Foundation is a non-profit open source organization formed to sustain the development, promotion and adoption of Cloud Foundry. The Foundation projects include Cloud Foundry Application Runtime, Cloud Foundry Container Runtime, BOSH, CredHub, and more, and many of these projects would benefit from security enhancements through software-based encryption integration. XCrypt Archive for Cloud Foundry BOSH is just the first product designed for Cloud Foundry on Zettaset’s roadmap.

XCrypt Archive for Cloud Foundry BOSH

Designed for Cloud Foundry users to secure backup artifacts, XCrypt Archive for Cloud Foundry BOSH is a software-only solution that integrates with BOSH to deliver an automated, encrypted backup solution. It encrypts and decrypts artifacts as it’s streaming to or from the backup store, either on the jumpbox or Concourse task, ensuring end-to-end security. XCrypt Archive works on structured and unstructured data, and even though data is compressed prior to encryption, there’s negligible performance impact.

XCrypt Archive includes BBR scripts to automate the encryption and decryption processes, making it transparent to the DevOps user. As with our other products, XCrypt Archive comes with Zettaset’s Virtual Enterprise Key Manager and Virtual Hardware Security Module, making it an all-in-one solution. XCrypt Archive is KMIP compatible and PKCS #11 certified, so if you already have a key manager and/or hardware security module, you can continue to use them. And best of all, it’s an easy to use system – no crypto experts necessary.
